Turmeric Cider

Ingredients:
For the Cider:
4 cups apple cider (fresh or store-bought)
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 cinnamon stick
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced
1/2 lemon, sliced
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
A pinch of black pepper (to enhance turmeric absorption)
Optional Additions:
A few whole cloves
A star anise
A small piece of fresh turmeric root, thinly sliced (if available)
Instructions:
Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine the apple cider, ground turmeric, cinnamon stick, sliced ginger, lemon slices, and any optional additions like cloves or star anise.
Simmer the Cider: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Be careful not to boil it vigorously.
Infuse the Flavors: Let the cider simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse. Stir occasionally.
Add Sweetener: After simmering, turn off the heat and stir in honey or maple syrup. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
Enhance with Pepper: Add a pinch of black pepper and stir well.
Serve: Strain the cider into mugs, making sure to remove the spices and lemon slices.
